No Referee, No Taekwondo.
It's Time to Give Referees the Respect They Deserve

Established To Change Reality

The Taekwondo Referee Union (TRU) was founded to ensure fairness,
professionalism, and respect for referees in Taekwondo.

Referees are the backbone of every competition, enforcing rules and
maintaining integrity. Despite their crucial role, they have often been overworked,
underpaid, and underappreciated, while organizations profited from their dedication.

The Birth of TRU

Founded by Grand Master Chuong Pham and experienced Taekwondo officials, TRU emerged as a response to the systemic neglect of referees.

For decades, referees faced exploitation, but speaking out meant risking assignments, career standing, or exclusion from the sport.

Recognizing this injustice, TRU was created as a professional association committed to advocating for referees' rights and ensuring they receive the recognition and fair treatment they deserve.

Empowering Referees, Defending Integrity, Uniting for Change.

TRU is open to all referees, regardless of affiliation or Taekwondo style.

A retired referee who dedicated years to officiating.
An active referee officiating at local, national, or international events.
A new or aspiring referee looking to develop in officiating.

Why TRU?

For too long, referees have sacrificed their time and expertise without fair recognition or compensation. TRU exists to change that by:

Fighting for referees' rights
— No more silent exploitation.
Providing protection and advocacy.
— No more fear of speaking out.
Ensuring recognition and respect
— No more being overlooked.
